There is one general differnce between online travel service websites - only few are real content providers the others are "only" marketing the travel services.
"Worldres" for instance is a content provider who supplies "www.opodo.com" among others with hoteldata and availibility. At the same time Worldres itself offers an own service "www.placestostay.com" which targets the end-consumer with its wird range of world-wide hotel .
Considering the fact that the Internet usage of the high potential consumers of the 14 to 49 year olds as their main source of information for buying travel services online resulting in the rapid decline of classic stationary travel agents is a signal that cannot be missed. Providers of short trips, weekend offers and cultural events have to promote their offers prominently on the pages of the online travel services. I am happy to show how my bad of tricks in oder to "jump the queue".
Online travel services aka "ADS" (Alternative Distributions Systems), in most cases obtain the hotel data from the "Switch-comopanies" Pegasus and or Wizcom. There are roughly 2500 travel sites worldwide for a hotel to appear, provided it is listed in a CRS / GDS Service.
I want to learn more about a Data ckeck-up and "jump the queue" !
